Barbie and the Three Musketeers But unfortunately when they make it to Paris, things do not turn out as Corinne hoped. She is made fun of by other people, especially the Prince's cousin and advisor, Phillippe. His dog, Brutus, steals her letter to Monsieur Treville and flees to the castle. Corinne gets it back, but Brutus damages it. After having a conversation with Treville, he tells her she is not ready. But the wicked Brutus chases Miette towards the castle, making a worse scenario with three palace maids. Corinne encounters Madame de Bosse, who hires her as another palace maid. After a hard day, one of the maids, Aramina (played by Summer), convinces the other two, Viveca (played by Teresa) and Renee (played by Nikki), to let Corinne and Miette stay. They befriend each other and forgive her for what happened. The next day at work, Corinne meets Prince Louis for the first time. After talking to Phillippe about his hot-air balloon invention, a chandelier drops and almost crushes Louis but he moves just in time. Corinne, Viveca, Aramina and Renee show off their musketeer skills to defend themselves from the chandelier fragments. Corinne finds a gem next to the chandelier rope which appears to have been cut. Corinne tells her friends about her dream to become a musketeer and three girls excitedly reveal they also have the same dream. The old maid, Helen, overhears their conversation and takes them through a secret passageway, where she leads them to the old forgotten musketeer's training room and agrees to train the four girls to be true musketeers. One day, while Corinne is cleaning, she spots Louis hanging from his flying hot-air balloon and saves his life. He thanks her and they immediately fall in love. While on the balloon, she sees the rope attached has been cut, just like the chandelier. When Louis confusedly says girls can't be musketeers, Corinne storms off angrily and tells her friends what happened. Helen warns them to keep eyes and ears open for enemies, otherwise Prince Louis will be in grave danger. Miette sneaks into the castle, with the help of Corinne's horse Alexander, to join training with Corinne and her friends. Finally, their training is completed. They try to tell Treville but no one believes them and they are banned from the castle. They wear disguises and sneak into the ball without being caught. The prince chooses to dance with Corinne. Though he does not recognize her with her mask, he feels he knows her. The henchmen attack; they capture Treville and the other musketeers, fight the girls and throw Louis into the passageways where Phillipe chases him to the rooftops. In the end, after escaping the men and freeing Treville and the musketeers, Corinne saves Louis just in time and they arrest Phillippe, Regent, Brutus, and their men. Corinne, Viveca, Aramina, and Renee remove their masks and Corinne and Louis reconcile. Louis names them royal musketeers on the day of his coronation. Helen takes Madame de Bosse's place and Madame de Bosse is made a maid as punishment for being so wicked and bossy. Corinne's mother is proud of her daughter finally becoming a musketeer. Louis offers to take Corinne on another balloon ride, but before she can say yes, Treville receives word of a plot against the king. Corinne and her three best friends mount their horses, shout \"All for one, and One for all!\" and wave goodbye to Louis and the kingdom as they ride off happily towards the sunset on their next adventure to save another day. CommonSenseMedia's review gave the movie three stars out of five and concluded: \"A pretty good try, but this Musketeer misses the mark...Barbie does all kinds of acrobatic moves, which flaunt her girlishness, but putting a sword in her dainty little hands seems to be a stretch.\"[3] DVD Talk's review rated the content worth two stars out of five (but three for video and audio), but advised \"Rent it\" due in part to the songs. \"Unfortunately, some distasteful songs run throughout this speedy retelling of the Dumas classic, so be forewarned...Not only are the lyrics ugly, they're senseless.\"[5] Corinne is a country girl from Gascony who dreams of being a musketeer in France. In 1560, she goes to Paris with a letter for Monsieur Treville, the captain of the musketeers and an old friend of her father, hoping to be accepted as a musketeer. Corinne is mocked by men for wanting to be a female musketeer. She becomes a maid at Prince Louis' palace instead. Her co-workers are Viveca, Aramina, and Renée, who also dream of being musketeers. The four girls become friends. While working one day, a chandelier falls. Corinne finds a small ruby and sees that the rope has been cut. An elderly maid named Hélène overhears their conversation and takes them through a secret passageway, where she leads them to the old musketeer training room. She agrees to train the four girls to be true musketeers. Soon, the girls are mastering their skills with Hélène's help, and she tells them to prove that girls can be musketeers. The girls find out that Philippe has a real sword and distract him from stabbing Louis. Philippe's men reveal their true colors. Using their skills, Corinne, Viveca, Aramina, and Renée defeat them. Philippe's plan is exposed, and all of his guards are arrested. For their bravery, Prince Louis names the girls royal musketeers. Corinne and her friends cheer, \"All for one, and one for all!\" Leah Weathersby: This is Leah Weathersby with Amazon.com, and I'm chatting with Barbie. Barbie, thank you so much for talking with us.Barbie: Oh, it's my pleasure, Leah.Leah Weathersby: Well, the last time we talked, you had just wrapped up your movie Barbie in A Christmas Carol. What have you been doing since then?Barbie: I've just wrapped filming on Barbie and The Three Musketeers, and this movie is a Barbie adventure like never before! My best friends, Teresa, Summer, Nikki and I are princesses on an adventure to save the prince. Along the way, we discover that, despite our differences, we have a common dream to become the first girl musketeers! This is a classic tale that we all know and love, but reinterpreted with a fun twist. From a hilarious cast of characters to a fabulous masquerade ball, the DVD is packed with unapologetically all-girl fun!Leah Weathersby: Well, in your movie Barbie and The Three Musketeers, you play Corinne. Tell us about your character.Barbie: Oh, I was so excited to play the role of Corinne, a countryside girl with big dreams to become a musketeer. I have a lot in common with her; we both dream big and believe that if you put your mind to it, anything is possible.Leah Weathersby: This is your first time starring in a movie with your friends Teresa and Nikki and Summer. What's the best thing about working with best friends?Barbie: Working with my BFFs makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world! Despite our very unique talents and personalities, we all find a way to balance each other's strengths through a common bond: Girl power! Every girl deserves a great group of friends. Their own real life musketeers!Leah Weathersby: I've heard you have some action scenes in this movie. Was it fun to learn swordfighting?Barbie: Oh, it was such a blast! I'm always up for trying new things! I love exploring the world and all of its possibilities, not to mention my glittery sword was the perfect fashion accessory on set.Leah Weathersby: In this movie, you and your friends save a handsome prince rather than waiting for a prince to save you. Is there a message you'd like your fans to take from this story?Barbie: Barbie and The Three Musketeers gives girls a story that combines classic princesses with modern girl power. While I know girls love to play the princess, they also want to play the hero and save the prince, not be saved. After watching the movie, girls will be reminded that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.Leah Weathersby: This movie is set in Paris. What was your favorite thing about filming in the city, and did you have any time for sightseeing?Barbie: When filming in the fashion capital of the world, sightseeing and shopping are a must! From the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe, my friends took in the sights, and of course snapped a few glamor shots along the way.Leah Weathersby: Well, speaking of fashion, you're not just an actress but you're also a fashion muse, and you were recently honored at fashion week. What was it like seeing designers create clothes inspired by your style?Barbie: It was an amazing honor. To participate in a runway show in the tents among some of my favorite designers was an experience I'll never forget. Fifty fabulous, iconic American designers from Diane von Furstenberg to Vera Wang all created amazing, one-of-a-kind looks inspired by yours truly! It was a tremendous honor. Christian Louboutin even made fifty custom pink heels for the occasion. It was a fashionista's greatest honor.Leah Weathersby: Do you have any other new movies coming out soon?Barbie: I'm excited about a new movie I'm filming called Barbie in A Mermaid Tale, which was filmed in my hometown of Malibu, California. I play a girl named Merliah, who's a surfer with a secret: She's also a mermaid! Make sure to look out for it in Spring 2010!Leah Weathersby: Well Barbie, thank you again so much for talking with us and congratulations on your new movie.Barbie: Thank you so much, Leah, it's always a pleasure. After Constance Bonacieux is fired, Madame de Bosse then offers Corinne a job cleaning the castle. Here, she meets Helene, an elderly woman who has worked at the castle for many years, and three young girls, Aramina, Renee and Viveca.
